Quotations Concerning Your JobPeople who sweat when they work for a living most times are paid far less than people who don't. The company never looks out for the best interests of its employees; it can't. It's first obligaiton is to survive. Leaders who drive their people to be perfect lead using fear and control. Leaders who try to make their people better are those who inspire ownership and confidence and rejoice in what has been accomplished as opposed to criticize for what has not been accomplished. To keep financial security, most people would willfully eat shit and pretend to like it. And thank the boss who gave it to them. Integrity is fueled by selfless ideas. Selfish, egotistic people rarely have selfless ideals; they rarely have integrity. Micromanagement is the surest sign of personal and professional insecurity. People who truly live integrity always treat both their subordinates and superiors with an equal amount of respect and courtesy. Your only real job is to survive. Ultimately that's the only one should stress about. Football games are usually won or lost depending upon who makes the most mistakes. Winning is not about being the best; it's about not making mistakes. How did "accomplishing something" become the most defining characteristic of self worth? Being a true leader means he is willing to trust the opinions of those he is leading while understanding that those opinions will not always be right. Delegating your authority to others who ask for it and deserve it is the kindest and most generous action that one human being can do for another. People who are "kiss butt people" rarely realize that they are. Check your nose in the mirror. Usually when someone is deliberately cruel to someone else, they feel that their cruelty is completely justified. Your superiors will never recognize the truth/reality of employee conflicts. In fact the person most at fault usually whines the most and is considered least at fault by the superior. The only reward for good work is the expection that you will do more of it and do it better. The only thing yelling at someone accomplishes is guilt, fear, mistrust, resentment, hostility, and alienation. In the short term, it may motivate people to do what you want them to do; in the long term is guarantees that they will do everything possible to oppose you. The most powerful people within an organization are often the most insecure. Their intense drive for control comes from insecurity. Keep this in mind as you relate to them. The more power someone attains in an organization, the more they believe that power has increased their intelligence. People spend far more time wanting than working to get what they want. Team work is an oxymoron. In most workplaces, the greatest source of employee frustration is not that management forces the employees to do tasks they don't want to do. The frustration comes from the fact that management prohibits the employees from doing the tasks to meet the employee's higher personal or creative standard. The employees feel no ownership. A leader should first and foremost protect the welfare of those he leads; particularly their jobs and their ability to have ownership of those jobs. When management asks for your opinion, be damn sure that they really want it before you give it. Most times they aren't looking for new ideas, they're looking for you to support their old ideas. Administrative titles don't make people smarter; they make people think they're smarter. Everyone is stupid; some people are smarter about hiding it. How many wealthy people do you know who work for someone else? How many middle class people do you know who work for someone else?
